I was born and mostly raised in Kingman, Arizona. I lived several years in California and returned with my family in 1985. During my life I have lived in many other places such as Minnesota (3yrs), Texas(8mo), Oregon(1yr), and California (12 yrs). I had the opportunity to see other parts of the Globe with my room and board paid by my Uncle Sam during my hitch in the Marines (March 1966 to January 1971). I visited such interesting places like Okinawa, the Phillipines, and Viet Nam.
My interests through the years have changed according to my age and influences of others. A good example, I played golf a lot from about 1990 to 2002. I hurt my shoulder and had to lay off a few years so between that and other interests it tapered off. I play less than once per year now. Fishing use to be a pass time for me, at least until I took up golfing. Living in Arizona, it is hard to get to the lakes to fish. When you do, a boat is almost always a requirement. I don't have a boat so that interest has also fallen by the wayside.
Hunting for deer or elk was fun for awhile. In May the licences were sold and then it was terrible having to wait until the end of October to go hunting. I did my hunting for about 12 years or until I figured it was costing me too much money and energy searching for those elusive bucks. I got tired of humping over the hills. That sport became too frustrating for the amount of work that it had become. In addition, too many people have moved into the good hunting areas which spoiled any opportunity of finding a good buck.
I was a master gardner of sorts while. I worked with the Parks department at the City of Kingman from 1987 until 1995 . I got tired of brining my work home with me so I just let it slip away. I still get out there and battle the weeds once in a while.
I have done some coin collecting over the years but now my money needs to be spent for other things like FOOD! Morgan Dollars have been my favorites and I liked to get the best condition possible for the least amount of cost. Things like that just don't happen anymore. My kids will probably be fighting over them someday if I don't decide to sell them first.
For employment I have done everything from all types of sales to driving a big rig. I drove a school bus for three years and even owned a janitorial company for fifteen years. I was working as a truck driver until May of 2008. Seems I got a brain tumor that had to come out and my boss didn't want to hold my job for me for six months. The doctor grounded me from driving for a few months until I recoverd from the operation. I joined AFLAC as an agent in November of 2008. In July of 2009 I decided to try to work at something that I could get some State retirement benefits. I am only short about 11 months of getting some retirement money through AZ. So I went back to driving a school bus.
In the past few years, I started to put my family tree together little by little. The names and dates of where they were born and lived. Some very interesting things come up when you are researching your ancestry. I have a lot of farmers in my background. Maybe that is why I have a green thumb! (lol)
